The purpose of the New Member Indoctrination Training is to inform new members of the amenities SLSC has to offer and introduce the standard operating procedures (SOP) necessary to open, close, and operate the shooting ranges safely. The class provides information necessary to become certified as a SLSC Range Safety Officer (RSO) with the additional benefit of being trained as an NRA RSO. Completion of this class allows you to open, close, and operate the Rifle Range, the Bullseye Range (pistol) and the Archery Ranger. This class will NOT give you a Shotgun RSO certification nor will you receive a Blue Sky certification to open the dynamic shooting pits. These require additional training due to the unique dangers associated with these facilities.
Upon completion of the class, you will receive your SLSC ID Card along with an RFID card to allow you to enter the club grounds through the electronic gate. YOU MUST TAKE THE CLASS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE YOUR CREDENTIALS TO ENTER AND USE THE FACILITIES. Several classes are offered from August through December. Early classes tend to fill quickly. Failure to take one of the classes is not grounds for a refund.
IF YOU DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, YOU DO NOT RECEIVE YOUR CREDENTIALS AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE FACILITIES.
Check the club calendar on the website to view available dates and directions on how to register for a class.
