On May 8, the SLSC grounds and ranges reopened after a 5-week shutdown. We are still operating under COVID-19 safety guidelines and the current operating rules are posted as you swipe in and at each of the ranges and on the website under the COVID-19 Info page. Most significant is the limit of 10 persons on the range. These restrictions may lesson as we progress to full operation. The board will notify members of any changes as they occur. The board is also looking into rehosting events. Watch the calendar and your email for event announcements.
SANNER'S LAKE SPORTSMEN'S CLUB
Eddie Eagle - Sanner's Lake offers the NRA's very successful Eddie Eagle youth firearms safety training (church, school, community center, etc.) upon request. We can provide this training on the SLSC grounds or at your location.
The NRA's Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program is a gun accident prevention program developed by a task force made up of educators, school administrators, curriculum specialists, urban housing safety officials, clinical psychologists, law enforcement officials and National Rifle Association firearm safety experts. Eddie and his friends remind children that if they see a gun, they need to Stop! Don’t touch. Run away. Tell a grown-up.
The program makes no value judgments about firearms, no firearms are ever used, and it covers an important topic that needs to be addressed with kids. Like swimming pools, electrical outlets and matchbooks, firearms are simply treated as a part of everyday life. With firearms found in about half of all American households, it’s a stance that makes sense.
Contact SLSC Training Coordinator John Mountjoy, SannersTraining@gmail.com, (301) 904-6156, if you have questions or if you wish to arrange for an Eddie Eagle Firearms Safety class.
Refuse To Be A Victim - SLSC offers the NRA's Refuse To Be A Victim (RTBAV) training program. The single most important step toward ensuring your own safety is having a personal safety strategy in place before you need it. NRA’s Refuse To Be A Victim® program teaches the tips and techniques you need to be alerted to dangerous situations and to avoid becoming a victim. The RTBAV course can be customized to the audience; for women, for the elderly, for the disabled, for collegiates, etc. For more info see our Refuse To Be A Victim webpage.
We offer RTBAV training classes upon request, at either our SLSC facilities or at your location (church, community center, etc.)
Contact our RTBAV Lead Instructor Richard Harris, firstname.lastname@example.org , if you have questions or if you wish to arrange for a class.
