NRL Practice Match

NRL22 is a nationwide, monthly precision rifle competition series for .22LR rimfire rifles featuring a minimum of five stages. The competition is designed to be fun, affordable, and accessible to a wide range of experience levels, with monthly matches testing skills like marksmanship, problem-solving, and equipment use. The matches at SLSC will typically use steel targets ranging from 30 to 100 yards. The targets are scaled to be challenging, often around 2 to 2.5 MOA in size (e.g., 2-2.5 inches at 100 yards).

The national NRL22 sanctioning body releases a monthly course of fire (COF) to allow competitors to compete against each other across the country. The match at SLSC will follow the national COF but is a fun practice/training match and scores will not be submitted to the national organization.

See the course of fire description and pictures below for examples of the various props and obstacles used during a typical COF.  The monthly COF can be downloaded from the NRL22 website here: https://nrl22.com/

2 January 2026

The NRL22 practice match was held on 2 January, it was cold but luckily not too windy. We had 5 shooters, several who were new to the sport. We set up a 50 yd zero area then ran through the 5 stage Jan 2026 course of fire. We didn't enforce the 2 min time limit or keep score, we just wanted everyone to be able to practice their shooting skills on the different barricades. Hopefully we'll get some more people interested in shooting this match!
